By being aware of these signs, you can take proactive steps to support your child's speech and language development, ensuring they have the tools they need to communicate effectively and confidently.

Age: 0 - 12 months
  • Does not babble
  • Makes only a few sounds or gestures, like reaching
  • Does not respond to sound or has poor eye contact
Age: 10 months - 2 years
  • Does not understand what others say
  • Says only a few words
  • Does not point to objects or pictures when they are named
  • Does not follow simple directions
Age: 19 months - 3 years
  • Does not put words together to make sentences
  • Does not ask for things using words
  • Does not engage in pretend play
Age: 3 - 4 years
  • Speaks using words that are not easily understood by others
  • Says p, b, m, h, and w incorrectly in words
